Camano Island Wedding - Sara and Ben
The day started with an absolutely beautiful drive down to camano island for Sarah and Ben's wedding. I was very excited to see over cast skies in our forecast because that makes for the most absolutely perfect dreamy creamy light. I was so excited to finally see what Sarah and Ben have been talking about on their parent property on camano island for this suite intimate wedding. It has been so hot lately in Washington State I was very worried that this wedding would be in the high 80s but when I saw the forecast for mid to upper 60s and then I saw the property I knew that this would be a perfect mixture for this one of a kind intimate wedding.
I cannot thank my friend Heather for sending Sara and Ben enough for sending this beautiful couple my way. These two are absolutely adorable together and I feel so fortunate that I was able to celebrate their special date with them. A wedding day says a lot about a couple, what they care about, who they care about most, and where they choose to get married all say a great deal about the betrothed. For example, Sara and Ben decided to get married in their childhood home, just as her older brother did 15 years ago. This says that they care a great deal about family, and traditions. The day started off with me parking in a beautifully wooded property and I grabbed my camera and walked around the edge of their home and let me tell you the view that opened up to me was something that you only see in magazines. A wide, epic expansive view of the beautiful Puget sound, and the North Cascade range. I could see Mount Pilchuck and Mount baker all in one swoop of my lens, and the mountains were showing off in true purple mountain majesty fashion. You know it is going to be a great wedding day when you can look across the Puget sound and see the Cascades and all of their glory. This wedding was about to be something that everybody was going to remember. As the day progressed, and we did the first look Sarah and Ben were absolutely a picture-perfect couple. They were sweetly romantic with one another and when ben saw Sara for the first time, his eyes lit up and they were all smiles. This blonde bombshell and the next James Bond were dressed to the nines and in true fashion undoubtedly stole the show. The vows were simple and sweet and the song that their dad picked out for them was perfectly reflective of their love for one another. Sara's brother ordained for this moment had many sweet words to share with the newlyweds. "you come together as one from now until eternity"
After the couple signed the marriage license and the groomsmen engaged those pockets, the wonderful food and toasts were up. Now if you are wondering what "engage those pockets" came from I will tell you. During all the weddings I have done, I always tell the groomsmen, anyone wearing pants to do something with their hands, either hold someone next to them, or engage them in the pockets, so the hands have a job. These guys took it one step further and engaged them in eachother's pockets and it was a laugh riot. Also I said if nothing else do finger guns and I'll be darned if they didn’t say challenge accepted and turned those guns on during the vows. These good natured laughs are what I am all about on these gorgeous wedding days.
During the toasts one of the groomsmen said it best. "I may not be the best friend or the best man, but I'm happy to take third It is an amazing thing to be here today, I hope you all realize how amazing it is to be here and witness such genuine friendship and love and two people. To stand here today and know that these two are meant for each other and know in our hearts that these two can go the distance is something that we are all so lucky to witness." This brought on lots of cheers from the crowd. You know what, he is right. We are all lucky to be such a small part in any couple's beginning. They will go through so much in their lives together, and they have so much to look forward to.
Next up was Sarah's dad Gordon. He started with a catch in his throad, that made the pollen get to everyone's eyes. At the end of his toast he he said "I knew he was the perfect one for Sarah when she said to me he makes me a better person." I'm not sure if there was a dry eye in the whole backyard. This wedding was absolutely one for the books and we even got a sneak peek by a bald eagle and Mount Baker came out to play at the very end. Sarah and Ben Thank you so much for allowing me to be a small part of your Camano island wedding on this day. The DJ even opened it up for toasts and someone shouted out "Lois has a toast." Everyone chucked as the mother of the bride shook her head. This wedding was so much fun. I will forever be grateful and honored that you chose me to witness such truly amazing love for one another.
